How to Celebrate at Home
- Fasting (Vrat): Devotees observe a "Nirjala" (without water) or "Phalahar" (fruit-based) fast from sunrise until the clock strikes midnight.
- The Cradle Ceremony: Decorate a small, beautiful cradle (Jhula) for Ladoo Gopal. Use fresh flowers, silk cloths, and peacock feathers.
- Abhishek: At midnight, perform the ritual bath of Krishna's idol using Panchamrit (honey, ghee, curd, milk, and sugar).
- Bhajans & Kirtan: Fill your home with divine vibrations by singing "Achyutam Keshavan" or "Hare Krishna" Mahamantra.
- Breaking the Fast: Offer "Makhan Mishri" (fresh butter and sugar candy) to the Lord first, then consume it as Prasadam to break your fast.
