Raksha Bandhan 2026 Dubai: Accurate Shubh Muhurat, Tithi & Puja Vidhi | Pandit Prabhat Chaturvedi

Raksha Bandhan, the eternal festival celebrating the bond of protection and love between siblings, will be observed on August 27, 2026. For the Indian diaspora living in Dubai, maintaining Vedic traditions while away from home is essential for spiritual well-being and family harmony.

Tithi & Muhurat Times for Dubai (UAE)

In 2026, Raksha Bandhan falls on the Shravana Purnima. To ensure the prosperity of your brother, the Rakhi must be tied during the Aparahna or Pradosh time, strictly avoiding the Bhadra period.

  • Purnima Tithi Begins: 04:15 AM on Aug 27, 2026
  • Purnima Tithi Ends: 02:40 AM on Aug 28, 2026
  • Best Rakhi Tying Time (Dubai): 06:05 AM to 05:30 PM
  • Aparahna Muhurat: 01:45 PM to 04:10 PM

How to Celebrate Raksha Bandhan in Dubai

Even in the heart of the UAE, the ritual remains deeply rooted in Vedic science. Follow these steps for a traditional celebration:

  1. Preparation of the Thali: Prepare a Puja Thali containing a Rakhi, Akshat (unbroken rice), Kumkum, a Diya (lamp), and sweets.
  2. The Ritual: The brother should sit facing East or North. The sister applies a Tilak on the forehead, performs an Aarti for his long life, and ties the sacred thread on his right wrist.
  3. Exchange of Vows: The brother pledges to protect his sister under all circumstances, followed by an exchange of gifts and sweets (Mithai).

What We Have to Do (Dos)

  • Always tie the Rakhi on the right wrist, as it is considered the seat of power and resolve in the body.
  • Ensure both siblings cover their heads with a scarf or handkerchief during the ceremony.
  • Seek blessings from elders and your family Pandit to ensure the thread is energized with Vedic mantras.

What Not to Do (Don’ts)

  • Avoid Bhadra Kaal: Never tie Rakhi during Bhadra, as according to mythology, it brings ill luck.
  • Avoid Sharp Objects: Do not gift sharp objects like knives or scissors, as they symbolize the severing of relationships.
  • Torn Rakhi: Never use a broken or "Khandit" Rakhi. Ensure the thread is whole and auspicious.
