How to Celebrate Nag Panchami in Dubai

Living in Dubai doesn't mean you miss out on traditional rituals. Here is how you can perform the Puja at home:

• Snake Image Worship: Since live snakes are not part of city rituals, use a silver, stone, or copper idol of a Naga, or draw a snake figure on your wall using sandalwood or turmeric.
• Abhishekam: Offer milk (Kshira Abhishekam), water, and honey to the idol.
• Offerings: Offer flowers, lotus, and sweets made of milk to the deity.
• Mantra Chanting: Recite the "Om Namah Shivaya" or "Nag Stotram" to seek blessings.

What to Do (Dos)

• Fast from sunrise to sunset to appease the Nag Devta.
• Offer milk to the needy or at a local temple if possible.
• Pray to Lord Shiva, as he wears the Vasuki Naga around his neck.

What NOT to Do (Don'ts)

• Do Not Plow the Land: Digging or plowing the earth is strictly forbidden as it may hurt snakes residing underground.
• Avoid Fried Food: Traditionally, food should not be fried in a pan on this day; steamed or boiled food is preferred.
• Avoid Sharp Objects: Use of needles or sharp iron tools is discouraged.
